Question of the Week:
Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
Science Fiction and Spiritual books. I don't do aliens. Never liked them in movies, televisions nor in books. I'm pretty intrigued about them in real life but that's how far my interest about them would go. I do try this genre once in a while and would surprised myself that I do enjoy them. But it's not really something I would read for the rest of my life.
Spiritual books just don't sit well with me and I avoid them as much as I can. I'm a Catholic, yes but I don't like to read books that "preach". I don't appreciate opinions and doctrines being shoved down my throat. I learned enough about them at college and reading about them in books is just too much.

What about you?
What book genre do you avoid like the plague?

Okay, I'm going to say it even though someone already said it...you should really try Obsidian! I don't like aliens either, I hate alien movies and the only exceptions for enjoying them on TV were Smallville and Roswell. But I LOVED Obsidian. It's awesome! My Friday hops
ReplyDeleteI understand, I'm very difficult with science fiction books, I don't read the other genre either.

here is mine
Not much of an alien book reader either. Although when I was in 7th grade I did read all the Roswell books that were based off the series! That was my one "alien" obsession! Max was so hot!

I didn't even think to avoid spiritual books but I don't usually read them either. Any time I feel as though I'm being preached at I tend to get turned off. I also have yet to find a SciFi book that I've enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog - I am now following you back! :)

I totally agree with you on that one! I rarely read sci-fi and the last sci-fi I read was so not enjoyable although it was a YA. Thank you for stopping by my blog! Old follower too! :)
ReplyDeleteI've encounter high sci-fi books before and it was hard to keep the names straight in my head and sometimes to visualize the alien city or planet unless if the books are connected to a sci-fi show that I'm a fan of like Stargate: Atlantis, I'll be picking up the book. :) Yeah, it's really a fine line in spiritual books. Old follower.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about both. I hate aliens and preaching. Imagine how terrible preaching aliens would be?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I am so late in responding to your comment. I've had a crazy weekend. I'm a new follower.
I don't really read a lot of adult fiction, but I will so I guess that isn't my answer.... Hmmm? Honestly, the only genre that I would avoid at all cost would be erotica stuff. I just can't do it. Gives me the willy's just considering it. I can read a mild sex scene in my own home, with no one else around, and still get crazy embarrassed. I can only imagine what one of those sex scenes would do to me.
