Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.
Publication Date: September 9, 2014
Publisher: Amulet Books
Emmeline knows she’s
not supposed to explore the woods outside her settlement. The enemy that
wiped out half her people lurks there, attacking at night and keeping
them isolated in an unfamiliar land with merciless winters. Living with
the shame of her grandmother’s insubordination, Emmeline has learned to
keep her head down and her quick tongue silent.
When the settlement leader asks for her hand in marriage, it’s an opportunity for Emmeline to wash the family slate clean—even if she has eyes for another. But before she’s forced into an impossible decision, her dreams urge her into the woods, where she uncovers a path she can’t help but follow. The trail leads to a secret that someone in the village will kill to protect. Her grandmother followed the same path and paid the price. If Emmeline isn’t careful, she will be next. - (source)

What is the secret? What did Emmeline grandmother paid the price for? Oh, the suspense. I already love this book. Let's just hope there's no love triangle or instalove.
So what books are you waiting on?
Instalove is a killer of books since there's like one in a million chance it's done right, but a love triangle isn't that tricky imo. Anyhoooow, when I saw this cover, I knew it was so you (and also Tanja imo). I hope you enjoy this mystery-filled story :)
ReplyDeleteInstalove must die a horrible death! Why do you say so, Sirii? Am I really that cold-looking? Heehee.
DeleteThis is a book I've been going back and forth on if I should add it to my TBR list. I think I'll wait until it comes out and read the first couple of pages to see if it's my kind of book. Still an interesting pick!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
Nothing's wrong with that, Patty. (: I hope we both enjoy this! :D
DeleteWoah this sounds very intriguing! Definitely want to know what this secret is...hopefully it's not something really cliched like "the enemy" is actually the settlement leader or something like that
ReplyDeleteI hope not! I don't really want cliche elements in my book. :D
DeleteSounds great but like you I'm "afraid" of insta-love and love triangles, I'm actually one of the few who hates love triangles more. Ugh, they are horrible.
ReplyDeleteI think I will read some reviews and decide after, great pick!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. :))
You are welcome, Veronika! I agree love triangles are horrible. They are rarely done well, IMHO.
DeleteOooo yes yes yes yes Sarah! I'm definitely waiting on this one as well, though I can't help but wonder if the secret is going to be anything like the movie The Village. Hm. Guess I'll have to read and find out! *waits for it to be September 9th*
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Village yet so I guess I don't have to worry about that? Heh. *waits with you*
DeleteOhh yes totally agreed! The premise sort of reminds me of the movie The Village, but I am sure it will be more original than that and not just a carbon copy. I'm super intrigued by the secret anyway. And yeah, instalove is a definite buzzkill so I would hope the author doesn't go that route!
ReplyDelete*fingers crossed* Now, I'm definitely intrigued by The Village. I'll add that to my must-watch list, Aylee.
DeleteI'm dying to read this one girl!!! DYING! Just look at that cover and then that blurb! What's there not to love!! I haven't seen The Village though and I'll have to check it out. Great pick, Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteSiiri speaks the truth! Haha. We'll have to see The Village beforehand then, Tanja. :D
DeleteYes Sarah! Winterkill sounds wonderful, and I'm right there with you wondering where that path leads ... Great Pick :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Now, we can all wait until September 9. :D
DeleteI'm such a sucker for mixed genre books, especially since I'm not a big fan of fantasy, but love it entwined in with dystopians. This one sounds awesome. I haven't heard much about this one, but looking forward to nabbing a copy once it's released. I can always rely on you to show me obscure releases that I just HAVE to have! Thanks for sharing Sarah <3
ReplyDeleteWeee! I'm glad I put this up on your radar then. I hope it won't disappoint us, Kelly.
DeleteThere better be no instalove or love-triangles or else I'll go out and burn this book. Not literally, though, haha. Winterkill sounds just like my kind of book—mysteriously contemporary. Hehe, I can't wait to snag a copy of this once it's released! I'm dying to get my hands on Illusions of Fate... RELEASE FASTER! Thanks for sharing, hun! There's always tons of books that us bloggers are waiting for! :D
ReplyDeleteTHE COVER LOOKS SO COLD. I THINK IT'S IMPERVIOUS TO BURNING. Kidding aside, I'll join in your revenge if this one didn't deliver, Mich. *evil laugh*
DeleteI picked up a copy of this at the ALA because it sounded delightfully creepy! I hope we both enjoy it Sarah! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm actually reading this right now, Sarah. I like the writing and atmosphere, but the story blaaaah. :/ I don't like the fact that there are virtues called courage, descovery and something else. Remoinds me of Divergent. :/ Oh, I'm don't mean to kill your excitment though!!
