Book: Mosquitoland by David Arnold
Publication Date: March 3, 2015
Publisher: Viking Children's
"I am a collection of
oddities, a circus of neurons and electrons: my heart is the ringmaster,
my soul is the trapeze artist, and the world is my audience. It sounds
strange because it is, and it is, because I am strange."
After the sudden collapse of her family, Mim Malone is dragged from her home in northern Ohio to the "wastelands" of Mississippi, where she lives in a medicated milieu with her dad and new stepmom. Before the dust has a chance to settle, she learns her mother is sick back in Cleveland.
So she ditches her new life and hops aboard a northbound Greyhound bus to her real home and her real mother, meeting a quirky cast of fellow travelers along the way. But when her thousand-mile journey takes a few turns she could never see coming, Mim must confront her own demons, redefining her notions of love, loyalty, and what it means to be sane.
Told in an unforgettable, kaleidoscopic voice, "Mosquitoland" is a modern American odyssey, as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.. - From Goodreads

Have you read the synopsis? If you haven't, go on...read it. I'll wait. Are you done? Doesn't it sound amazing? It radiates feels already and I haven't even read the book. Not to be a downer though, but it's not set to be released until 2015. I think the wait is going to be the death of me.
So what books are you waiting on?
Oh, that sounds...emotional. Sad. Powerful. EXTREMELY GOOD. 2015? Nooooo :(
ReplyDeleteMmmmh, I'm waiting for Gates of Thread and Stone which is going to be released in August (YAY!) and the compilation of The Bane Chronicles (October I think)... :(
Happy reading!
Lola @ Hit or Miss Books (I won't be blogging for Seeing Night Reviews anymore but created a blog two days ago. Hope I'll see you there though.^^ )

No problem, Sandra. ;)
DeleteI like the old look from the cover + I always adore covers with artwork on it. "As hilarious as it is heartbreaking" really got me interested.
ReplyDeleteYes the cover has a timeless quality to it and that blurb definitely sold this book really well. :)
DeleteLol, this sounds so weird, but I'm loving both the title and the cover. Illustrated covers are the best. <3 But yup, I can already tell this book is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions, and I have a feeling I'm going to connect with the MC really well, if I ever do read it.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
Right, Meg? That title really makes you think about stuff. XD It does promise feels so I will be expecting a lot from this book.
