Random Ramblings (16): TBR Overload! SOS!

It's not really cool getting left behind by your reading peers. Yes, we all know that this is not a WHO-HAS-READ-THE-MOST race but it really sucks big time if you can't relate or join in a discussion because, alas, the book they're talking about is still on your to-read list.

There are a million reasons behind this but basically it all boils down to: THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY BOOKS!

In fact, because our TBR pile is in the hundreds and thousands (and millions? Oh God, I do hope not), you just have no idea what to pick. And because we bloggers and reviewers have reading commitments, what with all the requesting spree we do in Netgalley (guilty!), blog tour, and review requests to attend to, we just do not have the time to work on our ever-growing, distressing TBR.

So I thought of making this post to at least keep track of what books I haven't read yet but should've supposed to read by now and at least help perk up my reading. I hate living under my reading cave and my reading is in serious need of intervention.  I've been experiencing the dreaded reading slump for about a month now and I need help. *gulps*

Since there are so many books that I really want to read, I handpicked the Top 11 in my list.  No throwing of rocks, though. I hurt easily. ;) In no particular order, here they are:

1. The Fault in Our Stars or any John Green for that matter
2. Angelfall by Susan Ee
3. Divergent by Veronica Roth
4. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
5. Blood Red Road by Moira Young
6. Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendra Blake
7. Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
8. The Iron King and the rest of the series by Julie Kagawa
9. The Tiger's Curse and the rest of the series by Colleen Houck
10. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
11. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

So what do you think of the books above?
Any favorites? What book should I dive in first?
Recommendations aside from the books mentioned are very much welcome and please do not contain yourself, I love squealing! :D

  1. Numbers 2, 3, 10, and 11 are on my unread stack too along with 226 other young adult books. I did read the first and second book in Colleen Houck's series and liked them. I started Blood Red Road (I had an ARC) but didn't like it or finish it. I loved The Iron King series and read all of those. I know what you mean about having so many options and not enough time to read everything you want to read. Happy reading!

    1. I'm not the only one haven't read Divergent yet! What a relief. Too bad you didn't like Blood Red Road. And yay to The Iron Fey series, I'm really keen on reading those books ever since I read The Immortal Rules.

  2. I'd start with Divergent. The only others I've read from your list are Anna Dressed in Blood and Lola and....
Both were okay books, but I liked Anna and the French Kiss much better than Lola's story.
Oh, and I've heard great things about The Scorpio Races. :)

    1. I loved Anna and the French Kiss! That's why I really want to read Lola and the Boy Next Door. Yup, Divergent is on top of the list as of now. Just trying to finish my other books. I've been hearing great things about The Scorpio Races too and it's going to be my first Stiefvater too so I'm really hoping I'll like it.

  3. I haven't really read most of those either, even though I desperately want to. :) I'd recommend the Iron King, though! It's a really good series!

  4. I've only read three books from your list. They are The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent, and The Scorpio Races. And I highly recommend them. :D
I also wanna try the other books you've listed. I've heard loads of great things about each book. There are just so many books, and so little time (and so little money, in my case :/ ).
Have you read The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare? :)

  5. What a great idea! I've read about half the books on your list today - and the rest are definitely on my TBR list. There just isn't enough time to read them all!!!

  6. Oh, I SO know how you feel! I've been in a reading slump for a while now. I'm reading lots but it's just not enough! Then I end up putting off books because I want to ''save'' them and then I never get around to them!

Your to-read list there looks a lot like mine, except I've read Angelfall (READ IT NOW!!!!NOW!) and Divergent (read that now too!Multi-task, haha).

I won copies of The Fault in Our Stars and Article 5. I neeeeed to get to them soon!

    1. Yes, sadly that's the story of my life! And I will multitask! I've only heard positive things about Angelfall so I'm really looking forward to reading it. :D

  7. I tried to read Blood Red Road and just could not finish it, I really disliked it.

I absolutely loved Divergent, it's a great book and I think it would definitely "perk up your reading". The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was really good too.

  8. I haven't read any of these books yet either - but Anna Dressed in Blood is high in priority for me.

As for suggestions, have you read Texas Gothic? I finished it this week and I really liked it. A nice modern ghost story.

    1. Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore? That's on my TBR as hell. I really loved her Prom Dates from Hell. So hilarious! :)
