Sorry for being weird. |
I've been planning on coming back since August, and it was not without serious thought that I decided to blog again. Keeping a blog is one thing, but running it is a different matter altogether. One of the most important realizations I had, while I was away, was I regarded blogging like a demanding, stressful job. As a result, blogging became a dragging commitment. That's why I decided to change my blogging perspective to keep the dreaded blogging burn-out at bay. I could still be overwhelmed, yes, but it will be totally up to me how I would handle it. So from now on, there will be no more pressure.
Now that I have my blogging mantra out of the way, let's talk about the modifications in the blog. Have you noticed the drastic change in my blog's design? From a dark, mysterious, edgy look, I opted for a lighter and cleaner color palette. This was how my old blog looked like:
So what do you think of the blog's overall new look? Is it too girly or is the font too small? In my opinion, I think it's quite dainty and pretty, but then again I was the one who made all the customizations so you could say I'm a little biased. Ha!
I am so happy to be blogging again. I'm definitely excited to continue sharing the reading bug. Here's to keeping it fresh and fun!

ReplyDeleteThe mysterious women in the original design made your blog seem a little too emo. ;-) I think that this new design fits the blog name better.
Thank you. Before I published this post, I called my old blog design emo-ish too. I guess my old design was really that. Haha.
DeleteI love the new design! Simple is always better in my opinion. And you did it all by yourself! Nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Megan! :)
DeleteYAY for returns! I took an 8 month hiatus from blogging, and it was the best thing I could ever have done. I look forward to seeing more from you!
ReplyDeleteYes. A hiatus can simply be the thing we need to get into blogging again. Thank you, Melissa.
DeleteWelcome back Sar! I get you. I also almost wanted to give up blogging because of the overwhelming pressure and the negative thoughts I get from blogging. Also, sometimes I feel like blogging keeps me away from reading--the main reason I even started blogging. But in the end, I learn how to let them go and start to think that blogging should make me happy and not what people would think. I don't think anymore of deadlines, of gaining followers. I have lessen on joining blog tours and asking authors for interviews or guest posts because they too tend to overwhelm me. Right now, I am focusing on writing reviews.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good perspective, Von. It's true that sometimes blogging can influence our reading in a negative way. I'm glad you found a balance that works for you. Thanks for visiting so fast, Von. :)
DeleteYey welcome back! I do have a hard time reading bright text on a dark background, so I love the new look :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Anya! :)
Delete"I could still be overwhelmed, yes, but it will be totally up to me how I would handle it. So from now on, there will be no more pressure." THIS. My co-bloggers and I have the same mentality ever since we started blogging freshman year in college. We take hiatus as well but we also come back eventually :) Anyway, I'm glad you decided to come back! I love pink so your new design is perfect in my book.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I noticed that you're also a PH book blogger so I hope to see you at signings?!
Thank you, Dea. I'd love to meet you guys this Sunday. Don't forget to say hi! :)
